In these modern times where our focus has become more and more narrowed and confined to our thoughts, bird language offers an opportunity to expand awareness into the brilliance of nature unfolding around us. Through it you can know what is happening far beyond what your eyes can see.
Ever wonder what the birds are talking about?
Song birds are in constant communication. They happen to be the favourite food of many and so they are always alerting each other to what is going on. Our ancestors, all over the world, used their knowledge of bird language to locate animals and threats. Now it can be an exciting way to find animals moving through the area, and to feel connected to the natural world. We will bring together many ways of knowing including thinking, sensing, feeling and imagining. Our knowledge will be based both off of empirical evidence and intuition.
This workshop will cover:
- Bird language practices for expanding awareness
- Recognizing patterns in bird vocalizations across species
- The 5 voices of the birds (recognizing what birds are communicating about)
- Our different ways of knowing
This is for
- Everyone from avid birders to those who know nothing about birds
- Anyone with an interest in experientially diving into the world of bird communication, and deepening relationship with nature
- Ages 12 to elder recommended (it will require some sustained periods focus and quiet)
