As much as the land paints us, We paint the land. It wants our hands and our bare toes. Don’t be fooled into withdrawing. Sweet berries are longing to be plucked And spread through our libation. The ground is asking to be disturbed by our digging for roots, So its gape can swallow new seeds. When you harvest the willow, It grows strait for baskets. When you eat the salmon berry shoots, It grows bushy and full of fruit. ~ Sofia Jain-Schlaepfer
